Antidepressant Suicides: Antidepressants Can Kill

By Digant Savalia Some five years back, FDA had warned doctors to be cautious while prescribing antidepressants to children. About two years later, Wyeth, a pharmaceutical company, offered a similar warning to the doctors. These drugs, as researches have found out, may tend children to think about suicides. The number of Antidepressant Suicides among children has been phenomenally high. FDAs waning was issued mainly to curb the rates of Antidepressant Suicides among children and adolescents. Antidepressant Pills For people going though depression, doctors often prescribe some common pills. However, FDA has warned that these drugs may lead to Antidepressant Suicides. Some of the most commonly prescribed pills are Prozac fluoxetine, Zoloft sertraline, Paxil paroxetine, Luvox fluvoxamine, Celexa citalopram, Lexapro escitalopram, Wellbutrin bupropion, Effexor venlafaxine, Serzone nefazodone, Remeron mirtazapine. FDA has appealed to pharmaceutical companies manufacturing all these drugs to issue a renewed suicide warning labels, on all these pills. Facts According to the FDA reports, in 2002, doctors wrote about 10 million outpatient subscriptions to adult patients. They prescribed pills, which according to FDA studies, should have had renewed warning labels. Doctors also prescribed same pills for about 8.1 million children between the age group of 12-17 and about 2.7 million prescriptions for children under 11 years of age. Studies have proved that these pills may have more adverse effects on children than on adults. Some of these pills should not be prescribed to children below 18 years of age at all, as per the study of FDA, as they might lead to Antidepressant Suicides. Warning and Appeal The FDA was told by the parents that antidepressants were the cause of their childrens death. Although it is not clear whether these deaths were actually Antidepressant Suicides, the FDA still appealed the pharmaceutical companies to issue a renewed warning on the labels of these drugs. Some have welcomed the stand of FDA on antidepressant pills, while others maintain that well-informed doctors and parents are the highest care a child could get. Research and Findings While it is not confirmed whether suicides among the children should be labeled as Antidepressant Suicides, researches in the University of Columbia have confirmed that children, who are on antidepressant pills, get suicidal thoughts more often than the kids who are on sugar pills. However, no child who was a part of the research committed suicide. There is indeed a rising trend in what we all call Antidepressant Suicides. However, we cant put antidepressants to blame. Parents should be more watchful and informed about their childs hyperactiveness. This alone can prevent Antidepressant Suicides. Exam Results – Ten Stupid Things People Do to Trash Theirs – And How to Fix It

By Teresa Bolen Has this ever happened to you? Youve studied and researched and done lots of work, and yet somehow when the Prof gives you your test back, you dont always get the great results on your exams that you feel like you should be getting. If only you could figure out what is ruining your exam results Here are the top Ten Things Not to Do, both during your exams and while preparing for your exams, plus a way to fix it, so you can consistently get the high level exam results that you want. DONT 1. Start Preparing Too Late. Many people just dont give themselves enough time to properly prepare for their exams. The Fix: Be sure to start earlier that you think you need to. 2. Stay Up All Night the Night Before a Major Exam. To perform at peak efficiency, you need your rest. The Fix: Prepare early and get a good nights sleep before major exams. 3. Exaggerate the Importance of the Exam. If you give it too much importance it can get you worked up emotionally and interfere with good exam results. The Fix: Keep the exam in perspective. 4. Get Scared and Give Up During the Exam. This often happens together with #3. The Fix: Youre already there, so relax, take the exam, and who knows? You may do better than you think. 5. Minimize the Importance of the Exam. If you tell yourself it is not so important, you are unlikely to do what you need to do in order to acquire the skills to succeed on the exam. The Fix: Remember the exams importance in the context of your goals. 6. Study What You Are Comfortable With Rather Than What You Need. The Fix: Dig into the material you really need work on, so that you develop all the necessary skills for great exam results — not just the skills you already have. 7. Plan for the Wrong Kind of Test. Have you ever done this? Prepared for an essay exam the same way you prepare for a multiple-choice test? Different types of exams require different preparation strategies. The Fix: Prepare for the kind of exam you are taking. 8. Misread or Ignore Directions. If you want to compete with everyone else, you need to be playing the same game. The Fix: Read carefully and follow directions. 9. Ignore the information a question asks for. This is a common mistake on essay exams, and the first thing the marker usually looks for. The Fix: Answer the question that is asked. 10. Cheat. Do I even need to talk about this? No matter how desperate you may think you are, no matter how important you might think an exam is — cheating is Never acceptable. The Fix: Have faith and believe in your abilities, and prepare as well as you can. Respect yourself enough that if you cant earn a grade honestly, you would rather walk away. Follow these fixes, and youre going to have great exam results in your future! Copyright 2006 by Teresa Bolen. All Rights Reserved. Life After Law School – Five Strategies To Succeed

By Janet Thomson You have completed four years of undergraduate studies, survived three years of law school and now landed your first job as an associate in a mega law firm. Now, its time to put all your hard work into action. Although your college education has prepared you academically, it does not account for the practical day-to-day function of a law firm. In my twenty years of experience as a legal secretary, I have watched countless first-year associates struggle to assimilate into their new environments. It becomes painfully obvious that they have not done their homework prior to pursing a legal career and are now faced with the tough decision of whether this was the right career choice. At this point, such negative thought is irrelevant because you are committed to at least one year of service, and how you approach this challenge could determine the rest of your professional career. I have outlined five strategies guaranteed to help new associates have a successful first year. First, build a relationship with your legal secretary. An experienced legal secretary understands the managerial administrative tasks of your practice. The knowledge that your secretary posses is priceless and will prove advantageous to your success. For example, if you are a litigation attorney, court filing procedures and formatting of documents is crucial in meeting deadlines because you dont want to risk having your complaint rejected by the court, causing penalties and humiliation among your colleagues. Second, learn to dictate effectively. The most frustrating thing for a transcriber is to receive a tape that is inaudible and has no clear instructions. Mastering some basic formatting skills and dictation etiquette will save your typists countless hours and ensure that your court documents are filed in a timely manner. Third, establish a professional and friendly relationship with the word processing department. It is a common practice in law to work around the clock to meet deadlines. Most law firms have an in-house word processing center that operates 24 hours. The word processing department helps assist attorneys and secretaries with complex documents and overflow work. Developing a friendly professional relationship with this department will ensure that your documents are turned around expeditiously. Fourth, do your timesheets every day. Developing this habit early will make certain that you are accurately billing for your time. Your billable hours determines your bonus, raise and whether you are headed on partner track. Many new associates are negligent in this area, which is why law firms have implemented penalties, such as withholding checks and charging fines. So start out on the right path and record your time daily. Fifth, respect, respect, respect. Staff employees understand your dedication and diligence in pursuing a legal career and dont need a constant reminder that you are an attorney. You will find that giving respect to the staff can gain you access to many resources. You dont want to be labeled a scrooge because it will slow down your production. Implementing these five strategies may take some time, but they are well worth the effort. Youve survived seven years of academia, incorporating these steps in your professional careers should be a piece of cake. 2007, Janet Thomson [All Rights Reserved.] Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Janet_Thomson http://EzineArticles.com/?Life-After-Law-School—-Five-Strategies-To-Succeed&id=501355 best online payday loan providers pogo payday free cell home loan bad credit no credit check apartments in austin tx

The Bug Funeral Parlor

By James Sniechowski One of the wonders of being in a long term relationship that celebrates “the magic of differences” is that you can divvy up the daily chores, errands and family support requirements along the lines of one another’s strengths and weaknesses, preferences and distastes. One of the ongoing challenges of country living is the BUGS! Big moths, black wasps, tiny “no see ums”and all manner of flies and critters figure out how to get inside our house. With a night light in our bathroom drawing them all in there after we turn out the lights, every morning the bathroom sink, floor and window sill have turned into the bug funeral parlor. Judith finds them obnoxious alive or dead! Jim doesn’t mind them most of the time and does most of the clean up in bathroom. He actually enjoys saving the live ones with his hands or he uses an empty plastic juice jug and a piece of cardboard to trap the wasps until safe delivery out of the house. So, now Judith just calls out for the “Bug Patrol!” and knows Jim will come rescue her. Respecting our differences allows Judith to feel taken care of by Jim and Jim gets to be the Bug Patrol General! In the old way of thinking about differences, we’d both be making each other wrong. Jim wouldn’t hesitate to make fun of Judith for being so “prissy and girlie” and “overly sensitive.” Judith would condemn Jim for being “macho” and “tough” and ignoring his “real feelings” of disgust. Each of us would feel righteous and correctcertain the other was wrong and deserved to be punished by verbal abuse. The fun is in sharing life in all the ways that our differences enhance one another and allow our individuality to shine. Remember that the other person you’re involved with is not you. So, how do the ways he or she is different from you make your life easier, more fun, better?! Rejoice in those differences! Judith Sherven and James Sniechowski share the secret of life-long romance. Design Ideas for Your Wedding Reception

By Amy Nutt The wedding reception is the part of that special day where the most time is spent and the most activities take place. There is much tradition attached to wedding receptions. These traditions need to be considered in the planning stage of the wedding. Some traditions can be altered to fit the desires of the couple and the expectations of the guests. The reception hall is going to be the center of all of this activity. It is a good idea to give some thought to the overall design theme of the reception. The design theme will determine the overall look of the reception hall and a carefully planned and executed design theme can add a great deal to the wedding. It is important to match the design theme to the hall where the reception is to take place. There has to be a match here. It is important to have a complete idea of just how the hall is going to appear at the time of the reception. How many tables will there be? What kind of chairs are being used? How large is the dance area? Where will the head table be located? These are the types of questions that must be answered before a design theme can be planned. The key elements to the design theme are centerpieces and flowers. The centerpiece and the table top decorations are the key areas of advancing the theme of the design. One good idea is to consider the season. If a wedding is in spring, a more normal design of bright and colorful flowers would be fine, but a fall wedding might feature a design theme more suited to autumn. A winter wedding can use a winter theme. One good centerpiece idea is a floating rose display. You can make it easily by starting with any large clear glass container filled with water. Add some pink or red floating candles to the water and sprinkle artificial rose petals into the water and around the table top. The artificial rose petals can be purchased from wedding supply stores or candle shops. They are made of acetate, a silk like material. The sky is the limit for centerpiece design. The other important element of the reception design is the floral arrangements. It is generally recommended that the actual placement and removal of floral arrangements be left to professional florists. It is not that you will be unable to create the arrangement that best expresses your design scheme, but rather that you are going to be very busy elsewhere on the wedding day itself. Once again, the decorating theme should match the hall. Large and tall arrangements work best in large halls. They fill space and also make a bold statement. Flowers can be part of the centerpiece design, and there are limitless ways to express a design theme with them It is a good idea to place an empty vase with water at each bridesmaid table for her bouquet. This not only preserves them, but they then become part of the table design. Offers large quantities of banquet chairs, church chairs, and tables Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Amy_Nutt http://EzineArticles.com/?Design-Ideas-for-Your-Wedding-Reception&id=451895 long term personal loans for people with bad credit bad credit car loan tampa payday jones payday game instructions

How Swimming Can Lose Weight

By Lawrence Chok Swimming is a whole body exercise and not only can lose weight but also can improve your heart and lung functions. This exercise also can train up all your muscles. Because of water buoyancy; when you swim in the water, your bones are fully relaxed. This is good for those who want to increase their height, especially those young teenagers. Actually, swimming is a huge energy consumption exercise. This is because the water resistance during swim in water is far greater than the air resistance during exercise on land. Just walk in the water already consume a lot of energies, if swim in the water much more calories will be consumed. Meanwhile, the thermal conductivity of water is 24 times greater than the atmosphere and the water temperature is lower than normal temperature, so this is conducive to heat loss and energy consumption. Therefore, the energy consumption from swimming is greater than those exercises on the land. So, the weight loss effect is more obviously. Swimming can avoid injury from waist and lower limbs exercises. When perform weight loss exercise on land, because of body weight is heavy, it will cause certain part of body (especially the lower extremities and waist) to sustain the enormous gravity load. So, it may easily damage joints and lower limb bones. Therefore, this will reduce the exercise capacity, easy fatigue and gradually reduce the interest in weight loss exercise. However, when swim in water, a portion of body weight will bared by the water buoyancy. So, the load is reduced and the risk of injury to the joints and bone is much lower. You can enjoy the service of natural massage. During swimming, the water buoyancy, resistance and pressure will become an excellent massage on the human body. It also may help in the beauty of skin. Resistance of movement in the water is 12 times greater as compare on land. So, when you move your limbs in the water, you will be able to feel a strong resistance. This will train up your back, chest, abdomen, hip and leg muscles. That is the reason why those swimming athletes have clear lines of muscles. Swimming also is an exciting exercise and the heat loss in water is faster than air. In other words, the rate of heat loss in water will be very fast and a large number of calories will be soon consumed during swimming. Therefore, those excess body fats will be easily burned out. In order to have a good result, a plan is needed for the swimming training. For the beginner: you continuously swim for 3 minutes and then take a rest for 1-2 minutes. After that, you swim for another 2 times, as well as three minutes. If you feel that these are not cost you too much effort to complete, then you can proceed to the second stage: you continuously swim for 10 minutes with average speed and then take a break of 3 minutes (totally 3 times). If you still feel that very relax, then set the time to 20 minutes each ., until as long as 30 minutes. If you feel that the intensity of increment is too fast, then you should adjust to the level that you can accepted. Because of the physical exertion for swimming is quite high, it is recommended perform this training once every 2 days. At least you have 1 day to recover back your energy. The rate of metabolism will be very fast during swimming. In 30 minutes of swimming can consume 1,100 calories and this metabolic rate still can continue for a certain period of times after you leave the water. So swimming is an ideal weight loss method. For those who are slim and thin, swimming is a good method for them to gain weight. It is because swimming can develop every part of muscles by increasing the size of the muscles and causing weight gain. In order to have smooth lines of muscles, swimming will be the good choice. Base on above information, swimming really is a good exercise to help in slimming or weight loss. However, well preparation and safety should be done before swimming to prevent accidents. Lawrence Chok has revealed some simple, easy and effective tips in weight loss and body slimming. Those amazing tips are proven that work to majority of people. Ask the Recruiter

By Cherilyn Lester We all have career goals, big or small. Here are some questions I have recieved over the last month from those actively seeking new employment. How many versions of resumes should I have – and why? – Ideally, you should personalize your resume each time you apply for a job. List only your experience relevant to the job you are applying for. The number one issues with the resumes I recieve every day is that they have irrelevant information which makes the resume too long, and too difficult to read. Today’s employers want to quick glance your resume in 30 seconds or less to decide if they want to read further. Irrelevant information makes it difficult to focus on relevant points, and employers are much more likely to pass over your resume. If you don’t have the time to write out 100 or more individual resumes, write general resumes for each type of position you will be applying for. For example, if you have payroll, accounting, and administrative experience, write a resume for administrative officers/assistants, accountants/bookkeepers, and payroll officers/administrators. That way, no matter what type of position you are applying for, the relevant information will only be a click away. Do I really need to write thank-you letters to employers? – If you want to stand out in the crowd of thousands of applications employer’s can recieve, then yes. A thank you letter serves many functions. First, less than 10% of all job seekers bother to send thank you letters. That means, if you do, you will stand out of the crowd. Second, it keeps your name in front of the employer. Most employers have hundreds of things to do each day, and even more papers to sort through when the time comes to hire. If your resume is at the bottom of the pile, a thank you letter with a summary of your qualifications can send them looking – for you. Third, it can add to your resume or cover letter. If you forgot to mention something, or have come across more relevant information, this can be added to a thank you letter. The bottom line is, a thank you note will make sure that YOUR name is remembered when the time comes to hire. How do I go about looking for a new job after being fired/terminated/downsized? – Bottom line, be honest. If you were downsized, say that. Unless you have 30 years of work experience and every job you’ve had you have been layed off from, honesty is the best route. If an employer asks you why you do not work at your previous job anymore, tell them the truth. More candidates are eliminated for fraudulent claims than for being laid off previously. If you’re not sure where to even look for a new job, try this. Sit down and think of everything you had to do at your previous job. Administration, sales, marketing, manufacturing, technical skills – everything. All of those individual skills could be a new career. Write each of these down, and then prioritize. Number each skill based on how much you enjoyed doing them. When it comes time to search, apply for positions using the highest ranked skills. This will ensure you can do the job, and enjoy it, too! Why You Need A Business Entity

By Richard Chapo When starting or expanding a business, many owners wonder if they should form a business entity and, if so, which one they should use. There is a wide variety of information and “pitches” being made on the Internet regarding the benefits of certain entities versus others. When you cut through the flak, however, the primary reason for forming a business entity is to create protection from personal liability arising from your business activities. It is well established that up to eighty percent of businesses will fail in their first two years. Many of these businesses, and probably yours, carry a high level of personal risk for their owners. If you are not using the correct entity for your particular business, you are going to be personally liable if the business fails. Do you want to expose your home, car and other assets? How about the assets owned by your spouse or their paycheck from a regular job? Selecting the correct entity for your business prevents such nightmares from occurring. More importantly, you can sleep at night knowing that the worst thing that can happen is losing your investment in the business, not your home. Business Structures There are a number of business structure options that exist in the modern corporate world. Following is a short explanation of the most common business structures. Corporations Corporations come in two basic forms, a “C” corporation and an “S” corporation. There are a variety of differences, but the central one is a tax issue. Briefly put, “C” corporations are taxed on their revenues and you are then taxed separately on any money you take out of the corporation. An “S” corporation passes through all taxes to the shareholders with the information being reported on your personal tax returns. Regardless of the tax classification, a corporation is considered an independent entity from a legal standpoint. This independent status acts as a shield between the activities of the business and your personal assets. As a practical example, Kmart recently filed bankruptcy. The individual shareholders were not required to file bankruptcy and lost nothing more than their investment in the stock of the company. Forming and using a corporation for your business activities will have the same effect, to wit, your personal assets will not be wiped out if the business fails. Limited Liability Company A limited liability company, or “LLC” as it is better known, was a very popular entity choice in the early 1990s. LLCs are similar to corporations, but can be taxed as a partnership. In California, the LLC can have either one owner or two. Regardless of the number, these owners carry the legal title of “member. The LLC provides a shield for your personal assets just like a corporation. Partnerships In my opinion, it is better to have died a small child then be in a partnership. Unfortunately, many business owners form partnerships and dont even know it. This occurs when they go into business with another person. If no business entity is formed, the law considers the business to be a partnership and treats it accordingly. Partnerships are dangerous for one primary reason: a partnership does not provide any protection from liability and, in many ways, invites personal liability. Under well-established law, most partnerships are classified as “general”. This simply means that all the partners are contributing to the administration and running of the partnership business. This classification can have grisly results. In a general partnership, each partner is jointly liable for the debts of any other partner arising from the business. For instance, you and your partner go to a business dinner with a client. Your partner has a drink and then a few more. They then get into an accident on the way home. Each of the partners is liable for the damages claimed by the injured people. That means YOU! Even if you were not in the car, did not rent the car, never saw the car and don’t drink! Partnerships are a recipe for disaster. Stay away from them whenever possible. Limited Partnerships Limited Partnerships ["LP"] are perhaps the most misunderstood business entity. A limited partnership is similar to a general partnership, but allows a number of the partners to limit their liability by being limited partners. It is critical to note that these limited partners are restricted to simply making a capital [cash, content, equipment] contribution to the partnership. They cannot be involved in actively running the business. If they are, they lose any protection from partnership debts. Many limited partnerships end disastrously. If you are married to the idea of pursuing a limited partnership, you must do so in combination with corporations. That particular strategy is well beyond the scope of this article, but feel free to contact me if you wish to pursue a limited partnership. Business owners should protect themselves by forming entities for their business activities. The real issue is identifying the structure that is best for your particular situation. This article is for general education purposes and does not address every facet of the subject matter. Nothing in this article creates an attorney-client relationship. Sales vs Marketing In MLM

By Devon Brown Simply Defined: Marketing is everything that you do to reach and persuade prospects to give you a chance to sell them. The sales process is everything that you do to close the sale and get a signed agreement or contract. However it’s not uncommon for a company to be unbalanced when it comes to these two ingredients of business success. If given the choice I would much rather be a better marketer. Don’t get me wrong, sales people are great and they are very successful (truth be told I’ve been a successful salesman for years). But the sales person would have no people to sell to if it weren’t for the marketer. The marketer is the one who places the ad in paper to get the phones ringing off the hook. The marketer is the one who drove people to the website, and got them to fill out a form stating they were interested The marketer is the one who has developed a list of people who are all interested in a certain niche market (or opportunity), formed a relationship with them, and now can tell that list about things and a solid percentage of them will be already sold. (Special note: This last statement is the key to everything…more on this later) The bad marketer is the one who made the commercial that got no-one to buy a widget… The great marketer is the one who made a few subtle changes to the same commercial and got every one to buy the widget. The marketer is the one who gets visitors to the website… The better marketer is the one who has it set up so that once the people are there they end up buying without having to talk to anyone. Let me give you one example of what is arguably the most genius marketing ever. Have you ever watched television and seen a 30 minute advertisement for some product or service? Did you notice how that 30 minute advertisement did a great job of answering all your questions and overcoming all of your objections? Did you notice how you were sssooooo compelled to pick up the phone or go to the website and buy the widget? Marketers created INFOMERCIALS, and they are able to make more sales in less time than the best door to door salesman ever! If you get nothing else from this one lesson please understand this. THE MONEY IS IN THE MARKETING, if you want to make more money then become a better marketer. So…what does all this sales and marketing talk have to do with MLM? Well I’ll tell you… I remember one time my marketing for this new mlm company was so effective that I signed up 20 new reps in 3 days without talking to a single person. I didn’t have to talk to my friends and family I didn’t have to explain anything to anyone Because I could market, I didn’t have to sell (at least not in person).
